What Alucobond® panels are available?

Alucobond® manufacture several panel ranges, including PLUS, A2, Vintage and Terra. Whichever your project specifies, the fixings and installation tools on this page are designed to work with the full Alucobond® system.

Which rivet do I need for my Alucobond® panel?

Alucobond® specifies aluminium/stainless large flange dome head rivets for face-fixing panels to metal subframes. Two sizes are available depending on your panel width:

  • Panels under 1m wide - 5 x 12 x 11mm rivet, 7.5mm sliding points, 5.1mm fixed points, grip range 5 to 8mm
  • Panels over 1m wide - 5 x 12 x 14mm rivet, 8.5mm sliding points, 5.1mm fixed points, grip range 8 to 10mm

If you are unsure which applies to your project, check your Alucobond® installation guide or call us before ordering. Both rivets are available unpainted or color-matched in Standard, Gloss, Woodgrain, Metallic or Chameleon finishes.

Which screws are specified for Alucobond® panels?

For Alucobond® panels fixed to timber substructures, low profile stainless steel screws are the specified fixing. Available in A2 stainless steel for standard inland projects and A4 stainless steel for coastal and marine environments, across a range of lengths and head diameters. All screws can be color-matched to your panel finish. The paint is applied to the head only, keeping the thread clean for full engagement.

What installation tools do I need?

Three tools are needed for a correct Alucobond® installation:

  • Centralising drilling tool: Produces concentric sliding point and fixed point holes to Alucobond®'s exact specified diameters. Two sizes available: 7 x 5.1mm for panels under 1m wide and 8 x 5.1mm for panels over 1m wide. Each tool is supplied with one 5.1mm drill bit, with replacements available.
  • Rivet setting nose piece: Attaches to your powered rivet tool and ensures each rivet is set exactly 0.3mm away from the panel face, the gap Alucobond® requires to allow for panel thermal movement. K11 is used with the 5 x 12 x 11mm rivet; K14 is used with the 5 x 12 x 14mm rivet.
  • HSS step drill bits: Available in 5.1 x 7mm and 5.1 x 8.5mm for drilling through the aluminium subframe and panel simultaneously.

Can my Alucobond® fixings be color-matched?

Every rivet and screw in this range can be factory painted to match your Alucobond® panel finish exactly - whether that is a standard RAL or BS color, a metallic, a woodgrain or a chameleon finish. The match is guaranteed. 25-year coating warranty on all painted fixings. Free sample packs are available before you commit to a full color run.
