Technical Product Information
The difference between a Fixed Point and a Sliding Point is the important roles they play in supporting panels during and after installation.
A Fixed Point has one job: to secure the panel in place whilst absorbing dead load. Fixed Points are typically located at the centre of the panel.
A Sliding Point, however, has two jobs: to fix panels to the support system behind, while allowing for calculated panel thermal expansion and contraction in relation to the support system. It's important to remember that different materials respond uniquely to thermal exposure, so Sliding Point specifications will vary for each panel from every manufacturer.
Our wide selection of Centralising Tools are suitable for many Sliding Point specifications across leading panel ranges and manufacturers. If you need assistance selecting the right tool, please speak to our team.
Our Centralising Tools are precision drilling attachments used during the installation of rainscreen panels. Their unique design ensures they slot perfectly central into pre-drilled Sliding Point panel holes, where the substructure beneath can be drilled perfectly central to the Sliding Point hole. This is an essential part of the installation process to ensure a safe and long-lasting rainscreen system, as the panel can now thermally expand and contract without causing detrimental strain on itself and the surrounding components.
We have a wide range of Centralising Tools for all Sliding Point specifications from a range of global façade manufacturers. To view our range, click here.
Our Rivet Setting Nose Pieces are our precision-machined attachments for rivet guns. They’re used during installation to ensure that our façade rivets are installed exactly 0.3mm away from the face of the panel. The reason for this is to allow for both thermal movement and to protect the panel and rivet head from damage.
